Sri Sri Ma Karunamayee was holy mother of our Guru, Sri Sri Lenin Roy, was born on the 14th of March, 1912 and passed away on the 15th of November, 1985. She was one of the greatest devotees of Thakur. She was previously known as Mrs. Renu Roy. It was Tuesday, the 13th of September, 1955 (22 se sraban,1362), when Thakur gave the holy name “Sri Sri Ma Karunamayee” to her. She was the first who arranged Mahotsav (Birthday Celebration) of Sri Sri Thakur Bigyanananda Maharaj in 1967. She had four sons (two of them Shri Lenin Roy and Shri Washington Roy) and two daughters.

She was the disciple of Guru Sri Sri Jogananda Brahmachary. The holy incarnation Jogananda Brahmachary sent her to Bhowanipore where she met Thakur Bigyanananda for the first time in 1952.

Ma Karunamayee and Thakur Bigyanananda, both were disciples of Sri Sri Jogananda Brahmachary.
