Bigyanananda Mission at Kesargarh, Purulia

Math in Purulia
Math in Purulia

Bigyanananda Mission has extended its domain of activities from Bhowanipore Math to Kesargarh, Purulia in the year 1999. It was an invitation from a school teacher of Purulia, Sri Subhas Mukherjee and the warm and cordial welcome from the local village dwellers of Purulia which initiated this mission.

On 29th of March, 1999, Sri Sri Lenin Roy accompanied by a few devotees of Bigyanananda Mission visited a village called Laulara in Purulia and founded a free primary school – “Bigyanananda Vidyapeeth”, with 15 village children. Mission took all the financial responsibilities for smooth running of the school which include school uniform and tiffin during school hours. Observing the enthusiasm of the villagers, Sri Sri Lenin Roy decided to visit another village nearby, known as Kesargarh. The overwhelming crowd welcomed Bigyanananda Mission with honour and love. Sri Netai Sahis, a common man from this village donated a piece of land to Mission, beside the sacred temple of Kalachand Jeu, for constructing a temple and to consider Kesargarh as the next home for the welfare activities of Bigyanananda Mission.

On the 3rd of June, 1999, another free primary school for the villagers was founded by the Mission at Kesargarh, Purulia and the

auspicious moment of laying the foundation stone of Bigyanananda Temple by Sri Sri Lenin Roy and Sri Gopiballav Singh Deo, was observed in 2000 by villagers in front of respectable people of the locality which include the names of Sri Mihirlal Singh Deo, Sri Atul Chandra Sen, Sri Bankim Chakraborty, Sri Subhas Mukherjee and many others.

It was Jagaddhatri Puja, 27th of October, 2009 (Nabami Tithi) – Bigyanananda Mission could successfully implement the plan of constructing a temple for the villagers, especially for the women who may take some time off from their routine household activities and rest at ‘thakur dalan’ of the temple to find peace and regain energy. Mission handed over the charge of regular maintenance of the temple and daily puja activities to the Sahis family. From the inception of the Temple, Sri Satadal Sahis is performing it with utmost sincerity and diligence. However, Mission is still bearing all the financial responsibilities for the temple maintenance and puja.

The social welfare activity around Kesargarh is still under consideration and will surely take place sometime very soon.
